Fair Labor Platform held a discussion on the illegal dismissals and the rights of persons employed in the cultural sector

On November 16, the Fair Labor Platform held a discussion about Labor Beyond Culture – a discussion of illegal dismissals of people employed in the cultural sector.

The goal of the discussion was to present jointly the cascade of mass and large-scale labor rights violations in culture from the perspective of workers, trade unions, and labor rights organizations in various fields, and to discuss strategies of legal struggle to create a decent working environment for cultural workers.

  • In the first part of the discussion, representatives of trade unions and public organizations spoke about the legal dimension of responding to the ongoing processes in the sector and strategies for fighting systemic violations, including successful court and ongoing collective disputes.
  • The second half of the discussion was devoted directly to the voice of and evaluations of the working environment in the field of culture by the culture workers and independent professional associations in the field of culture.
