Women with Disabilities - Rights and Freedoms

5 Oct, 2016

The rights and freedoms of women with disabilities (WWD) were considered during a news conference held on 30 September by representatives of NGOs, the women’s movement and international organizations.  The conference was held by the Platform for New Opportunities, the union of women with disabilities set up with the support from the OSGF in 2016.

The platform is based on idea that all women and girls should have access to all public benefits; they should have freedom of choice and personal independence as well as opportunities for progress, development and self-fulfillment.

The conference focused on the WWD access to health care, education and employment.

The photo exhibition reflecting the life of women with disabilities was interesting.

The conference was attended by representatives of the platform and partner organizations, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.

The conference ended by the discussions on the promotion of the women’s movement.
